NPCPBC announces NP of the year 2017

Dr. Sharon Thrush is NPCPBC Nurse Practitioner of the Year 2017.  She began her career in 1978 with a diploma in nursing from Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. In 1994  she earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Carlow University in Pittsburgh; 1997 she obtained her master's in science specializing in the family nurse practitioner track at La Roche College, Pittsburgh. In 2010 she returned to school to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

Sharon has been an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University since 2001 and visiting professor at Chamberlain University since 2015.

She has a published article on home genetic testing in Journal for Nurse Practitioners 2010. She has contributed writings to several books including certification practice questions: Dunphy Management Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners Working with Adults, 2nd edition.

Sharon has also shared her time having been a preceptor to hundreds of students.
